about me

My Background

Ann Marie grew up in upstate New York. She was influenced by her great Aunt Mary who painted landscapes and portraits of homes. She started drawing and painting as a child. She loved animals and wanted to paint them.  It took her five years to get through college, because her husband was in Air Force and they moved frequently. She studied art at the University of Arizona, where she acquired a B.F.A. in graphic art and illustration. She also worked as a floral designer while attending college and freelanced as a graphic artist for a few years.

She worked at JCPenney  for 17 years. While working she decided to go back to her creative side and began painting again in her spare time. She  became active in art associations and entered art shows in Massachusetts and New York, and won various awards. She illustrated posters and programs for art shows in ink. She retired from JCPenney  four years ago. She is now dedicated painting on a full time basis.

She started out painting in oils in school. In college she experimented with different media. She worked in ink, etchings, air brushing, and painted in acrylics. She now paints exclusively in acrylics.

Some of her  favorite artists she greatly respects are Robert Bateman, John Seery- Lester, and Jan Martin MCGuire.

She  is interested in protecting animals and their habitat. She wants to provide a place where injured or starving animals can thrive. She donates paintings to wildlife rehabilitation centers. She sells paintings and giclee prints.
